Plastic Abrasive
Plastic abrasive is used for very sensitive surface treatments. It is suitable for air pressurized, vacuum and turbine type sandblasting systems. Allows cleaning without damaging the material's surface. Does not leave any residue on the surface. Plastic abrasive provides dust-free sandblasting of thermoset, duroplastic and cast aluminum materials. Internal structure of the plastic abrasive hardens by impacts same as stainless steel shot. For this reason, plastic abrasive hardens as it is used and higher surface effect can be obtained. Using plastic abrasives has been proven to significantly reduce the generation of hazardous waste that using wet chemical strippers can cause. In addition, the use of plastic abrasives has proven to be faster, less damaging to the substrate and much less expensive than wet chemicals. PLASTIC ABRASIVE TYPES

Our company can supply 5 types of plastic abrasives in 4 different sizes, which are frequently used in surface treatment sandblasting applications: * Urea Plastic Abrasive * Melamine Plastic Abrasive * Acrylic Plastic Abrasive * Polyamide Plastic Abrasive * Polycarbonate Plastic Abrasive

Plastik Abrasiv

* Üre Plastic Abrasive: Typically the most popular and versatile of the plastic sandblasting medias. Mildly abrasive granular plastic cleaning media suitable for use in both wet and dry blasting systems. The material allows the controlled removal of surface coatings, paint , dirt, flash and burr from a variety of substrates. It is used in applications such as stripping and cleaning vehicle bodies, machine housings, engines, moulds and mould tools, as well as deburring and deflashing metal and electronics components. Hardness Scale 3.5 MOH.

* Melamine Plastic Abrasive: Most aggressive and brittle of the plastic sandblasting medias. Care must be taken when blasting with melamine as prolonged usage can cause damage to soft alloys, plastics, glass etc., but where speed is required melamine is ideal to use on less delicate substrates that require cleaning or stripping without the need to resort to environmentally undesirable solvent/cleaning agents. Hardness Scale 4 MOH.

* Akrilik Plastic Abrasive: Least aggressive and most malleable of the plastic sandblasting medias. 15 times less aggressive than melamine, but consumption is less than Urea for each cycle at the same feed rate. It is used in applications such as stripping and cleaning aerospace applications, such as aircraft bodies, wings and radar cones, as well as deburring and deflashing metal and electronics components. Media is even less abrasive than urea, but has a similar low density which ensures minimal effect on the substrate and allows soft alloys, plastic composites etc., to be cleaned or stripped. Hardness Scale 3.2-3.5 MOH.

* Polyamide Plastic Abrasive:Polyamide / nylon Plastic Sandblasting Media is a specially formulated nylon thermoplastic media, extruded and cut to form either a cylindrical or cuboid shape. Industries using this medium include the electronic and industrial areas, but the main use is in the automotive and thermoset industries. This product is not suitable for Cryogenic Blasting. Suitable for use in all types of blast finishing equipment, to ensure optimum cleaning and recyclability, it is recommended the user employs considerably low pressures.

* Polycarbonate Plastic Abrasive: Plastic Media is an extruded cylindrical high density media. The ambient grade being a general purpose media, whereas the cryogenic grade being a reinforced version for very low temperature work. Industries using this medium include the automotive, electronic and industrial areas, but the main use is in the rubber and thermoset industries. Polycarbonate Plastic Abrasive is specially formulated from PC compound, extruded and cut to form a cylinder. This product produces a resilient non abrasive media which resists splintering and during use gradually rounds off into a sphere. Excellent cutting edge retention and very slow breakdown give the media a long dust free life.

ADVANTAGES OF PLASTIC ABRASIVES

* Plastic abrasive has long life. It can be used repeatedly in the sandblasting process.
* It allows very sensitive surface treatment applications. Provides safe sandblasting that is harder than the coatings and paints to be removed from the surface and softer than the main substrate.
* When compared to chemical cleaners, faster cleaning is done. The rate of harmful waste is also much lower. It does not harm the surface and it's cheaper.
* It has a wide use area. It can be used from aircraft parts to electronic circuits.
* It does not leave any residue on the surface and does not make dust.
* It does not lead to a dimensional change on the surfaces.
* There is a size range for different appliacations of sandblasting and profiling.
* The plastic abrasive does not contain free silica.
* Plastic abrasive does not contain dangerous substances for human health and carcinogenic substances.
